"Westville cut-off"
Title:  "Westville cut-off"
Description:  The original narrow gauge tracks laid by the contractor who was hired to build the standard gauge tracks after grading was done. They look good considering they've been there for 105 years.

"Westville cut-off"
Title:  "Westville cut-off"
Description:  An original narrow gauge rail-jointer (angle bar). Closer observations reveal a spike through the tie and the bolt heads connecting the rail. The dirt above the rail is about two feet thick. The other rail is buried.

"Westville cut-off"
Title:  "Westville cut-off"
Description:  Amazingly, a switch still exists on the original narrow gauge tracks. Maybe it was a siding to store empty hoppers or loaded hoppers with excavated dirt from the ROW. Who knows? If you look carefully, the switch handle is visible at the bottom-left of the photo (in the sunlight/ pointing at 2 o'clock). It actually moves a little.

Westville Cut-Off
Title:  Westville Cut-Off
Description:  I like to get down here every year now it seems and check on the remnants. Original narrow gauge rail used during the excavation of the grade crossing free Westville Cut-Off from Westville to Haddonfield. Built by the PRR in 1906, it was over 90% complete when the project was abandoned. It can only be seen where the creek winds across it.

Westville Cut-Off
Title:  Westville Cut-Off

Barely seen rail
Title:  Barely seen rail
Description:  Westville Cut-Off rail remnants from the construction of the grade crossing-free line to Haddonfield. The ROW is easily traced because of the power companies using it for transmission lines.

Westville Cut-Off
Title:  Westville Cut-Off
Description:  This piece of rail is acting as a dam. If the creek didn't run through here, the tracks would most likely be buried under 3 feet of dirt. This section of the ROW was originally excavated for the line to be grade crossing free so there was no 'creek' here before construction of it.

Westville Cut-Off double track
Title:  Westville Cut-Off double track
Description:  There is still a switch handle visible through the dirt and a siding of some sort was constructed for the excavation of the grade crossing free shortcut to the Delair Bridge.
